How we’ll communicate weather-related closings and delays

Dear Red Raider Community:  

With winter weather right around the corner (or maybe I should say already here) we wanted to share how a delay or school closing will be communicated.

Any changes to the school day will be communicated through ParentSquare, the district’s mass notification system. The message will also be posted on our website and through local media outlets.

Delays are typically two hours:

Elementary Schools    Two-hour delay start time: 11:05 a.m.

Junior/Senior High School        Two-hour delay start time: 9:47 a.m.

In the event of a delay, breakfast will not be served. 

Morning closings or delays will typically be communicated no later than 6:00am at the very latest, however we will strive for earlier.  Whenever schools are closed for emergency reasons, after school activities will be canceled.

In order for us to communicate effectively please make every effort to keep your school’s main office informed of any changes to your contact information as this information feeds our notification systems.

Also, please remember that neighboring districts have differing needs and challenges, and may make different decisions regarding delays and closings.
