Thanksgiving Message from Superintendent Potter

Red Raider Community:

I’m very reflective this time of year. Together we have faced challenges like never before. No matter where you turn, it seems like people are struggling. It’s not a Mechanicville thing, it’s just a thing. Patience is short, nerves are bent, and people are burned out. Our implementation of the School Impact Process is incredibly hard work under the best of circumstances. Unfortunately, we are experiencing some of the worst of circumstances. Not one of us in our school community is immune to the negative effects of this pandemic.

Despite this, I’m thankful. I’m thankful for our supportive families. I’m thankful for our CSEA and MTA Union leaders. I’m thankful for our 220 employees who give their heart and soul each and every day to support our nearly 1400 children Pre-K through grade 12. I’m thankful for a very progressive and committed Board of Education. I’m thankful for the dedication and tireless effort from my administrative team and executive assistant. I can’t be your leader without each and every one of them.

In closing, I’m beyond grateful to be in #OneMechanicville! We have a gem of a community, I absolutely love this place. I’m thankful for the fact that No One Rallies like Mechanicville, because that’s what will get us through this, together.

I wish each and every one of you a tremendous Thanksgiving!

My best,
Bruce
