A Message from Superintendent Kevin W. Kolakowski

Dear Mechanicville Family:

After much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to step down as Superintendent of Schools for the Mechanicville City School District, effective November 24th, 2025.  It has been the greatest honor of my professional career to serve this incredible district for nearly 16 years as your Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and most recently as Superintendent.  Mechanicville has given me far more than I could ever give back — lifelong memories, meaningful relationships, and the privilege of working alongside the most dedicated staff and remarkable students anywhere.

To our community — the community with the biggest heart — thank you.  Your pride, support, and partnership are what make Mechanicville such a special place.  The strength of this district has always come from its people, and it has been an absolute privilege to serve all of you.  I am forever grateful for every opportunity, every challenge, and every moment spent working to make our schools stronger and our students’ experiences richer.  As I prepare to conclude my service, I remain fully committed to ensuring a smooth transition to the next leader who will continue to move this district forward.  Mechanicville’s future is bright — and I will always be proud to have been a part of its story.

With Gratitude,

Kevin W. Kolakowski
