It is the duty of the administration of Mechanicville City School District to establish clear guidelines for the registration of new students. In an effort to ensure that all students are properly placed in a timely manner, we ask that parents/guardians provide the documents listed below to our Central Registrar. Pre-K Registration Info
The Pre-K lottery for the 2026-27 school year will take place in the spring.
The Mechanicville City School District offers a Pre-K program for 4-year old children. Seats are limited and selected through a random lottery process. Eligible children must be a resident of the Mechanicville City School District and meet the following age requirements to be eligible for Pre-K:
● A child must be four years of age on or before December 1st of the year in which they wish to enroll.

Step 1: Lottery Sign-Up:
Families may apply for a Pre-K seat by completing this form (see link below).

Step 2: Lottery:
The district uses a random number generator to determine the order of the draw. The lottery continues until all Pre-K seats are filled, however, a waitlist may be necessary. The lottery will be scheduled after the May 21st deadline.
Step 3 (If selected): Notification and Registration:
Families will be notified of placement via phone call and email. Additional registration paperwork will be required at this time to secure your child’s seat in the program. Families will be provided a registration packet as well as a checklist of information to provide for enrollment at this step.
