MES Welcome, Car Tag Info, & Student Teacher Assignment Info

Dear Parents/Guardians: 

It is with great pleasure, on behalf of Mechanicville Elementary School, to welcome you and your child to the beginning of another exciting new school year!  Our entire school staff are excited to provide our students and families with a strong PreK-5th educational program, along with a safe and positive atmosphere so all students have the opportunity to succeed.  I am beyond excited to get the school year started.  Throughout this school year, we will certainly work hard together, but we will also celebrate and play hard as well!

The upcoming 2026-2027 school year will begin on Wednesday, September 9th.  Within the next couple of days, you will be mailed information on your child’s respective assigned teacher along with some other helpful information.  Also, there will be further correspondence shared from the District via Parent Square, our District website, and the District Facebook page with additional information regarding arrival and dismissal, transportation, and other miscellaneous information regarding the upcoming school year.

STUDENT PICK-UP CAR TAGS:  For our families who plan on picking up their children everyday/on a regular basis at dismissal, you must obtain a “CAR TAG” from our main office.  This may be coordinated during our supply drop off days or at any time prior to the school year during 10am-2pm in our main office.  You cannot use CAR TAGS from previous school years and must obtain a new one for this school year.   

During the first days of school your child will be bringing home many documents/correspondence for your review and/or completion.  Please review, complete, and return these items to school with your child as soon as possible.  

Please Note: Considerable time and careful planning go into our student placement process to ensure each child is appropriately assigned to their class. Our teachers have received their class lists, and all information has been entered into our student management system. Class assignments are now finalized, and we are unable to accommodate requests for changes at this time.
