Mechanicville fifth graders honored at Physical Education Student Leadership Awards

May 10, 2017- More than a dozen fifth graders from Mechanicville Elementary were recognized on Monday, May 8 at the 32nd Annual Sandra G. Morley Physical Education Student Leadership Awards Program.

The program, which was held at Hudson Valley Community College, was put on by the Capital Zone chapter of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NYSAHPERD). 

Hundreds of students were recognized from twelve counties across the state and more than thirty school districts. 

Congratulations to the following Mechanicville students who were honored: Jacob Eiseman, Jake Gaba, Harold Doty, Colin Richardson, Joseph DeVito, William Coreno, Thomas Wendel, Amber Gjata, Lila Christensen, Jorja DeCarlo, Isabella Raucci, Giana Gaba, Courtney Toher, Mackenzie White, and Ella Zecca.

According to Coach Mike Tavani and Coach Katie McBride, these students have demonstrated responsible personal and social behavior, sportsmanship, and citizenship, and a desire to learn and improve. They also have exhibited a physically active lifestyle, demonstrated leadership and have been a positive influence on their peers, while contributing toward the entire school program.
