MHS Elementary Students Recognized at Sandra G. Morley Physical Education Student Leadership Awards Program
Fourteen Mechanicville elementary students were recognized May 7th, 2018 at the 33rd annual Sandra G. Morley Physical Education Student Leadership Awards Program held at Hudson Valley Community College. The program was put on by the Capital Zone chapter of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NYSAHPERD). Hundreds of students were chosen from over thirty school districts and twelve counties were recognized. Accompanying Physical Education teachers Mike Tavani and Katie McBride were students Logan Starks, Kyle Coulombe, Dimaggio Ferrara, Alex Sikamiotis, Cruz Goverski, Jacob Pickett, Scotty Lynch, Madelyn Hopeck, Anna Izzo, Ava Grimmick, Evie Dowd, Halee Pasinella, Jimena Cruz, and Delaney Bisallion as the honorees. Coach Tavani and Coach McBride have said that these students have demonstrated responsible personal and social behavior, sportsmanship, and citizenship, and a desire to learn and improve. They also have exhibited a physically active lifestyle, demonstrated leadership and have been a positive influence on peers, while contributing toward the total school program.
