Posted by Marlene Tierney, BOE President on 4/10/2019
Students, Faculty, Staff and Members of our School Community:
The Mechanicville Board of Education (BOE) Superintendent search is progressing well and we would like to give you an update. Thank you to everyone that responded to the survey sent out via email by the district and posted on our website. We read all 462 detailed responses and comments submitted by staff, students, parents, and members of our community. We were excited to see the level of interest and thought put into your answers and will use this information to inform our selection of candidates and interview questions.
The posting for the permanent Superintendent was published the week of February 24 in the Times Union newspaper, New York State Board Member On Board newsletter, and on the New York State Council of School Superintendents website. Applications were accepted through April 1 and we are reviewing the 20 submissions received. The BOE will begin the interview process in April. We anticipate making our selection by the second week of May and will notify the public once the appointment is final.
We take our responsibility seriously and are anxious to appoint a permanent replacement as soon as possible and continue our district on a positive path academically and fiscally. The BOE is confident we will find a permanent replacement that will make Mechanicville proud.
